It’s been such a joy to talk about HAPPILY EVER AFTERS and my publication journey this past month. Here’s a round-up of the interviews I’ve done recently! You can listen wherever you get your podcasts or at the links below:
Growing up, all I wanted was to see myself in the swoony love stories I adored. To know that a Black girl like me — anxious and awkward and messy — deserved to be at the center of one.
And so, just like Tessa, I wrote that story myself.
You can still purchase signed copies from my local indie bookstore, Bel Canto Books.
And there are two chances to celebrate this week! Tonight I’ll be in conversation with Becky Albertalli and Brandy Colbert, hosted by The Ripped Bodice.
As the release date of Happily Ever Afters gets closer, lots of fun stuff is happening. And as a result, I’m alternating between freaking out and ugly crying tears of joy every five seconds.
Here are a few of those big moments from November:
My local paper, the Long Beach Post, did a feature on me and my journey to publication. This convinced my parents that I’ve really made it! Yay!
Happily Ever Afters got great reviews from Kirkus and Booklist and a starred review from School Library Journal. They said: “This well-written, page-turning romance is packed with smart dialogue, powerful insights, and a lovable cast of characters. Highly recommended for all high school libraries.”
Happily Ever Afters was chosen for the Winter 2020-2021 Kids’ Indie Next List! I’m SO honored that indie booksellers selected my book — they are truly the heart of this industry. And remember, you can pre-order a signed and personalized copy of Happily Ever Afters from my local indie, Bel Canto Books!
Happily Ever Afters is out in less than two months (WHAT!), so it’s time to talk about the pre-order campaign.
If you pre-ordered a copy of Happily Ever Afters or requested it from your library, first: thank you! I love you!! And second, I want to send you a cute vinyl sticker sheet featuring original cover art by Michelle D’Urbano!
To receive your stickers, please fill out this Google form with proof of purchase or library request. This form only works if you have a Google account because it requires you to upload a picture. But if that doesn’t work for you, no worries! You can also email your proof of purchase and mailing address to hi [at] elisebryant [dot] com.
Please note: this pre-order campaign is US only and will run through January 4, 2021, or while supplies last.
And remember, you can pre-order a signed and personalized copy from Bel Canto Books! These books will come with a sheet of stickers (YAY!), so there’s no need to fill out this form.
Thank you so much for your support! I can’t wait for y’all to meet Tessa!
I’m so excited to share that I’ve partnered with my local indie bookstore Bel Canto Books to offer signed and personalized pre-orders of HAPPILY EVER AFTERS! A lot of people have asked me the best way to order the book, and this is it! You get a signed copy, and you get to support a WOC-owned indie bookstore. Does it get any better than that??
More info on my pre-order campaign to come soon, but what I can tell you is that all books pre-ordered through Bel Canto Books will come with something reeeeeal cute! You’re gonna love it.
